On Monday, Nov. 22, the Monmouth University bowling team wrapped up their fall season at the Eastern Shore Hawk Classic Invitational in Millsboro, Delaware.
Finishing up their fall schedule, resulted in the Hawks going 5-8 over the three-day event. The event was hosted by Maryland Eastern Shore and the Hawks faced numerous ranked teams.
In Baker play on Friday, the team went 2-3 when they fell to #8 Fairleigh Dickinson, #12 Sacred Heart, and #23 LIU. On Saturday, Monmouth posted a 1-4 record in traditional matches. All of their losses came from ranked opponents, #6 Sam Houston State, #11 Duquesne, #13 Mount St. Mary’s, and #25 Adelphi University.
Monmouth won two of its three matches in the championship round on Sunday, earning an overall finish of 12th place.
Placing 26th out of 95 total bowlers, right-handed sophomore, Jenna Lehrer led the Monmouth team in traditional play on Saturday. Lehrer achieved a total pinfall of 976 over five matches. The successful sophomore set a new season high while also posting two 200+ games. That included a high game of 216.
Overall, Monmouth went 5-8. In traditional, they went 1-4, in Baker, they went 2-3, and in championship, they went 2-1.
This competition follows the team’s competition against their MEAC rivals at their first conference meet of the season on November 13 and 14 finishing with an overall record of 5-3.
During the competition, the ladies went 3-2 on the first day of competition where they earned wins in Baker play over #24 Delaware State and #20 Maryland Eastern Shore. They also beat Norfolk State.
Monmouth fell in two Baker matches against #5 North Carolina A&T in addition to Morgan State. Monmouth then won their three Baker games on day two, beating Howard and Coppin State and ultimately losing to UAB.
Looking ahead, the Hawks are set to compete in the Stormin’ Blue & White Vegas Classic January 8 through January 10th in Las Vegas.
