WARNING! The infamous seasonal depression is approaching!
As the colder seasons get closer, a great way to combat these blues is to find a new hobby.
For many, finding hobbies to do can be hard, and it can be harder to find something to do that you want to stick to.
As someone who loves many different kinds of activities, even trying something new and not sticking with it is better than not doing anything at all!
For instance, a really good hobby that I was able to get back into was reading. Reading allows the audience to completely immerse themselves in the characters, settings, and plot, and truly understand that book’s world.
It’s an escape from doom scrolling on our phones, watching the same things over and over again, or feeling discouraged by what we see on social media. Instead, we can read any book that we want, whether it is fiction or non-fiction.
Another simple hobby that anyone can do is going on long walks. Not only is it something that you can do for any amount of time, but it also allows us to get outside and enjoy what is around us.
It’s a great way to clear your mind and be active, so bundle up and start taking in the different sights and scenes that fall is so famous for.
If you’re more of an indoors person, don’t worry! Painting may be perfect for you! You don’t have to be good at painting to enjoy it because there are so many different ways to do it.
There are paint-by-numbers, diamond paintings, or blank canvases that are all yours to create! This is something that you can do while watching a movie or even with a group of friends, which makes everything more fun.
On a regular basis, taking photos is another great everyday hobby. You can truly take pictures of anything and everything!
You don’t need a fancy camera; just take out your phone and snap some shots of nature, events, people, etc. Something else that is an option on the artsy side again is learning how to embroider. Though this is the hardest one mentioned so far, it can be a very cool skill to have.
If you know how to embroider one thing, you know how to embroider anything. Imagine wearing your favorite fall clothes with your own designs stitched into them! Or bringing your school bag to class with new designs along the seam!
Since the fall weather is on the chillier side, chances are you’ll be inside a lot. Might as well spend that time inside learning something new that you might fall in love with.
Finding hobbies is not something that you can just wake up and know. You can’t pressure yourself into liking; something. It’ll be a classic case of trial and error but in the end it’ll be completely worth it.
P.S. Have fun with it!
