Join Marc Tyler Nobleman to Discuss His Book and Hulu Documentary
WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (Jan. 28, 2026) – The Wayne D. McMurray School of Humanities & Social Sciences, with the assistance of the School of Education, is pleased to announce Marc Tyler Nobleman’s discussion of his book Bill the Boy Wonder: The Secret Co-Creator of Batman and the Hulu documentary Batman & Bill, as the second event of the Dean’s Distinguished Speaker Series. Nobleman’s talk will take place on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2026, from 2:45 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. in the Great Hall Auditorium.
After discovering the tragedy of Batman’s uncredited co-creator Bill Finger, Nobleman launched a nine-year campaign to save Bill’s legacy and the integrity of one of the most lucrative global brands of all time. With infectious optimism and suspenseful storytelling, Nobleman’s research uncovers the surprising origins of the legendary caped crusader. This classic underdog story will inspire all readers to take ownership of and pride in their work.
On the event, one student says, “I’m looking forward to Nobleman’s talk because I believe it will reinforce the significance of self-advocacy and representation, which are two things that need to be continuously emphasized in our culture. The book explores the all-too-common practices of erasure and exploitation in history and popular culture. I find Nobleman’s story about Bill Finger particularly important to recover because, as Nobleman says at the very end of his book, it ‘inspires comic creators [and really all readers] to fight for justice— their own.'”
Nobleman is also the author of Boys of Steel: The Creators of Superman, which received multiple starred reviews and was named an American Library Association Notable Children’s Book in 2009.
Copies of Bill the Boy Wonder: The Secret Co-Creator of Batman will be available for purchase for $17.99. To learn more, visit the event website.
