When the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos battle at MetLife Stadium during Super Bowl XLVIII, it will be a “Clash of the Titans.” The game will take place this Sunday, Feb. 2, with kickoff set for 6:37 pm.
Football Withstands Late Bryant Rally
The Hawks’ football team managed to fend off a late second half rally to defeat the Bulldogs of Bryant University, 21-18 for their last away game of the season. Fifth year senior tight end Michael McLafferty and junior running back Julian Hayes each scored touchdowns for the Hawks who improved their record to 6-5.
Hawks Use Fast Start to Down Wagner, 23-6
All it took was five plays for the Hawks football team to take a two score lead. With the fast start, the defense ratcheted the pressure and shut down the Wagner Seahawks en route to a 23-6 MU victory. The win brings the Hawks record to an even 5-5, while Wagner falls to 2-8 this season.
Football’s Rally Falls Short; Lose to Sacred Heart
The Hawks football team’s fourth quarter rally fell just short as they lost to the Pioneers of Sacred Heart 24-21 on Saturday, Nov. 2. With the loss, the Hawks fell to 4-5 on the season while the Pioneers improved to 8-2.
MU Mob Packs the MAC During MAC Madness
Basketball games are won and lost on the hardwood floor between the players but there is more that goes on behind-the-scenes than most people would think. The coaches and athletes prepare both physically and mentally for the game ahead while they endure tough practices in hopes to win. However, the crowd and loyal fans also prepare and brace themselves for the game.
Hawks Drop Contest to NEC Rival St. Francis, 28-10
The Hawks football team dropped their contest to the Red Flash of St. Francis after having a hard time capitalizing on their two first half turnovers. With a final score of 28-10, MU falls to 3-4 while their former Northeast Conference foe improves to 2-4 for the season.
Football Downs Colonials for Third Consecutive Win
The Monmouth Hawks’ football team (3-3) defeated the Robert Morris University Colonials (2-3) by a score of 35-9 at Kessler Field on Friday, Oct 4. With the victory, MU continues their three game winning streak and improves their record to 3-3.
Football Drops Holy Cross for First Win of Season
For the second straight week, MU rode the legs of the running back combination of junior Julian Hayes and senior Kwabena Asante as they held off the Holy Cross Crusaders, 21-14.
Football Can’t Get Over the Hill, Lose to Lehigh 28-25
In a game that had several lead changes and some late-game dramatics, Monmouth University’s football team lost their home opener, 28-25, to NCAA #19 Lehigh University Mountain Hawks on Saturday, September 14. MU falls to 0-3 with the loss while Lehigh improves to 2-0.
