S.O.A.R. Awards Honor Clubs and Students
The Supporting Outstanding Achievement through Recognition awards were held April 18 in the McGill Commons Club Dining Room on campus. The S.O.A.R. awards are held to honor registered clubs and students who have been actively involved at the University. The nominees of these awards have made great accomplishments and greater impacts on campus and in their community. Assistant Director of Student Activities for Multicultural and Diversity Initiatives Heather Kelly and Assistant Director of Student Activities and Student Center Megan McGowan hosted the awards.

The pending United States healthcare law was taken to the Supreme Court last week. The nine justices heard arguments from the Solicitor General, representing the defense, and Paul Clement, Florida Attorney General, representing the plaintiff.

Because of the terrorist attacks on 9/11 in New York City, many New Yorkers have become suspicious of Muslims. NYPD has taken action. Muslims have been put under surveillance by police in NYC due to past attacks conducted by terrorists of the Muslim faith. According to an article in The Washington Post, NYPD started an “undercover spy operation” in 2007. Police have been observing and recording where Muslims live, work and even pray.
