The softball team competed in two tournaments over spring break, playing 13 games over a 10 day span in the Under Armour Showcase and the Clearwater Parks & Rec/Michele Smith Spring Break Invitational in Clearwater, FL.

The season came to an end for men’s basketball in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) on Tuesday, Mar. 14 as the fourth-seeded Hawks fell to fifth-seeded Ole Miss, 91-83 at OceanFirst Bank Center.

It was far from a perfect ending at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Tournament for the men’s basketball team this weekend.

The women’s indoor track & field team won the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship for the fourth year in a row on Sunday, Feb. 19 at the New Balance Armory Track and Field Center in New York, NY. Monmouth has won seven consecutive conferences title every year since 2012 and have won all four years since joining the MAAC in the summer of 2013.

The men’s basketball team extended their program record winning streak to 16 games as Monmouth defeated Siena 77-73 on Friday night and Iona 79-73 on Sunday night.

Coming off a season where they finished 30-27 overall and tied for second in the conference with a 16-8 mark, the baseball team was picked to finished third in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) in the Preseason Coaches’ Poll.

Already up by fifteen points, junior guard Austin Tilghman put up a prayer from about 75 feet just before the halftime buzzer sounded. The ball smacked the middle of the backboard and fell through the net, sending OceanFirst Bank Center into a frenzy.

The men’s lacrosse team defeated a ranked opponent for the first time in program history as they took down No. 16 Villanova 12-10 on Sunday afternoon at Villanova Stadium.

The men’s basketball team extended a program record by winning their 12th straight game in their 102-82 win over Siena at Times Union Center in Albany, NY on Monday night.

The men and women’s indoor track teams are only a few weeks away from competing in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships.
