A Monmouth University student-athlete balances the pressure of being a division one athlete in addition to have a full course load of classes. Many collegiate athletes are showcased for their work on the field and not for their work in the classroom. For Danielle Axelrod, she has been able to shine off the field and discover her passion while competing for a conference title.

Field Hockey Splits Weekend Home Stand
The Hawks started their weekend on Friday, Sept. 18 with a loss to the Temple Owls 4-2. The Owls jumped out to a 1-0 lead Friday afternoon. The Hawks would respond when senior midfielder Cori Allen put Monmouth back into the game with two goals in the first half. This was Allen’s first career multi-goal game, which helped keep the game tied at two after one half of play. Not to be outdone, Temple’s Alyssa Delp registered a hat trick that propelled the Owls to victory over Monmouth on So Sweet A Cat Field.
Women’s Basketball Can’t Catch Siena, Fall 65-58
Despite receiving 22 points from junior guard Sarah Olson, the women’s basketball team fell to the Siena Saints, 65-58, Saturday, Feb. 7.
Women Cagers Drop Season Opener to Yale
The Hawks fell to the Yale Bulldogs 64-55 in the season opener on Saturday, Nov. 9 at home. Senior forward Shira Shecht scored a career high 13 points while freshman guard Mia Hopkins dropped seven points to go along with nine rebounds in her first college game.
