Andrew “Maniac” McGee has become a name much feared amongst the Northeast Conference baseball teams. As MU’s starting pitcher, McGee has a 5-1 record, four complete games, and 38 strikeouts. Not to mention he was named New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association’s Pitcher of the Week on March 25.
The baseball team scored 48 runs in a four game sweep against Northeast Conference rival, Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers(MSM) this past weekend.
The Hawks Track and Field opened their spring season with the 18th Annual Monmouth Season Opener. The two-day meet included 20 teams and 1,038 athletes.
Chris Down and Diego Allessandro, both seniors and communication majors, were recently awarded grand prizes in their fields of submission by the National Broadcasting Society (NBS) for their achievements in radio and television broadcasting.
Many people who attend the University say once he/she graduate, they want to get away and start their lives as well as their careers. This was not the case for communication professor Matt Harmon.
The baseball team went 5-3 over spring break as they competed in a series against Virginia Commonwealth University and Northeast Conference opponent Quinnipiac University.
The baseball team started their 2013 season participating in the Ron Fraser Classic in Cary, North Carolina the second week of February.
The track and field team recently competed in their final regular season NEC meet this past Wednesday as they hosted Moonlight at the MAC.
The University has created a task force in October that may be enforcing a new schedule this upcoming fall which will change both the academic calendar as well as time frames. Speaking to a room of 18 students and professors this past Monday, Chair of the Political Science and Sociology Department Joe Patten addressed what he, along with 14 other University professors and students hope to pass. “The problem is simple in that Labor Day causes these issues. If you cannot start earlier and you want to end earlier, there is nothing you can do but change,” Patten said.
