The Monmouth track and field team competed at the Moravian Greyhound Invitational Saturday, with a small group competing at the University of Virginia, and a group at the Larry Ellis Invite hosted by Princeton University.

Men’s Lacrosse lose to QU; One Game Left
The Hawks lost by a mere goal against conference opponent Quinnipiac of Saturday, April 18. MU senior Ryan Schwartz was the Hawks main scorer contributing two goals and an assist. Sophomore Zack Schliecher also made his presence on the field known with one goal and an assist. A late rally by the Bobcats had the Hawks see a final score as a 9-8 loss. This marks the Hawks fifth goal of the season that has been decided by one goal.

After sweeping in-state rivals St. Peter’s and Rider 7-0 and 6-0 respectively, the men’s tennis team clinched the number one seed in the upcoming MAAC Championship. With the victories MU finished undefeated at home for the second straight season. The Hawks then claimed the MAAC regular eason title with another shutout win over Fairfield on Monday, April 20.

Rutgers University has consistently set the bar for division one collegiate athletics in NJ. Whether it be because of its involvement in a nationally recognized conference like the BIG 10 or their countless championships from their time in the Big East, Rutgers has been the standard. The University men’s and women’s track and field teams competed at Princeton University on Saturday where both teams finished second to Princeton, with many Hawks having strong races.

Miles Austin, Jose Gumbs, Chris Hogan: all former Hawks who continued to make names for themselves in the game of football. Since former Monmouth star Miles Austin found his way from the Jersey Shore to Dallas, TX, the NFL Draft process has found its way to West Long Branch, NJ.
MU Appoints Swim Teams’ Head Coach
In November, Monmouth University Vice President and Director of Athletics Dr. Marilyn McNeil, after consulting with the University’s Trustees, announced that the men’s and women’s swimming programs would be reintroduced as NCAA Division I sports at the school. Today, Monmouth has announced that Monmouth County native Matt Nunnally, who has coached at the Division I level for 20 years, has been appointed the head coach of the reintroduced men’s and women’s swimming programs.
