Monmouth University’s campus has tons of great spots for studying; whether you thrive in chaos or need complete silence to concentrate, there is somewhere for everyone!
Personally, my favorite spot to study on-campus was always my dorm room, but there are also several spots on campus that I believe are awesome study spots for students.
The first location that I believe is one of the best study spots on campus is the Great Hall. This is a place on campus that, although there are people passing through and socializing in, is a great place to complete your work.
I think that it is the best study place on campus for several reasons. Reason one being that there are multiple places to sit, allowing you to just put headphones on and do your work peacefully. Secondly, the ambiance of the Great Hall is unmatched. The building itself is beautiful, and I think that it allows for a nice place to study. Further, when you are in an area that you enjoy being in, you are able to study much better and it motivates you to work harder.
Another spot that I believe is a great place to concentrate on schoolwork is on the second floor of the student center. If you are lucky enough, you can snag a study room, thus having a place of privacy to check items off your to-do list. Ultimately, I think this is a good spot to study if you are studying with a group, like I often enjoy doing, because it allows for you to communicate easily especially when in a private study room. Bonus: there is the food court downstairs complete with a Dunkin Donuts and Jersey Mike’s if you need to take a little break from studying!
Finally, the last spot I love utilizing to study is the library. The library is the perfect spot if you want to study alone with minimal noise. If you are a person who becomes easily distracted, it is the best place to go; there is rarely anyone in there and if there is, it still remains nice and quiet.
The library is a great option for a few other reasons as well. It is super close to the dorms, so if you don’t feel like walking to the Great Hall or the Student Center, you can just make the short trip there. Also, the library has many resources for you to use, like printers, which can be useful. Lastly, the library has extended hours during finals week which allows students extra time to master all their classes.
Monmouth has so many other great study places as well. For example, some buildings like Pyzioki and Edison have private study rooms which are great spots to focus. Or, the dining hall is also a great option. Last semester, I often found myself doing work while eating breakfast or lunch because it allowed me to take a quick break to eat if I needed to.
In the spring and fall, when the weather is warm, you also can study outside on Shadow Lawn or even in the residence quad; this is where my friends and I would sit and do homework on the nicest days in the spring.
I believe you make up your own opinions and ideas of the best places to study on campus; it honestly depends on how people study and the type of setting that they work and succeed in. But, that means that you get to try out all of the spots and figure out what you think is best for you. Studying on campus is what you make it and you eventually learn to love a certain spot and stick with it.
