Anna Moors led the Hawks with three of their six goals on the day as the Hawks got ahold of their 10th win this season, going up against LIU on Sunday Oct. 27 in a dominating 6-1 victory.
It was midfielder Milla Frye who got the Hawks on the board early in the first quarter with an unassisted goal, giving the Hawks a quick one point lead. LIU waited until the second quarter to respond, getting a goal of their own and tying it 1-1.
The Hawks wasted no time gaining their lead back when defender Calista Schwartz and midfielder Lauren Relik found Moors who got her first goal of the day, and sixth of the season, to lift the Hawks 2-1.
Monmouth’s offense took off in the third quarter as Moors netted her second goal of the day to give the Hawks a two point lead, this time with help from midfielder Libby Doehner as well as Schwartz. Moors third and final goal of the day came at 44:24, shortly after Doehner got a goal of her own at 42:40, tacking on her third goal of the season.
The Hawks finalized the 6-1 score at 47:39 with Frye’s second goal of the game.
Monmouth dominated offensively putting up the most shots in a game this season with 28 from start to finish, putting 20 of them on goal. Moors led the offensive performance with six shots, all of which were on goal. Schwartz played a key role in Monmouth’s offense with two assists against LIU. Moors and Frye now lead the team with eight goals each after a multi-goal performance. Monmouth’s offensive efforts forced LIU goalkeeper to 14 saves.
On the defensive side of things, goalkeeper Jessie Eiselin only had to make one save which came in the first half. LIU ended with a total of just three shots, two of them making it on goal.
The Hawks will host William & Mary on Nov. 1 where they will look to secure a spot in the CAA Tournament.
