College is a place where, at times, it can be hard to stay positive, focused, and motivated throughout the whole school year. Often, many students may struggle with the adjustment of a brand new place, a brand new schedule, and just the course load in general.
This causes them to feel overwhelmed and stressed and lose motivation to do their work. I for matter a fact know how this feels, and trying to find out how to gain motivation back was hard for me.
What I have learned to do is to ensure that you give yourself mental health breaks. This is something that can be so simple but is also so important as a college student. You can go on walks, watch a new show, or start a new hobby during these breaks. This can be as short as a ten minute break during a long assignment or a few hours during a long day.
I have found that by giving myself breaks, I have become a bit more motivated to do my work. This is because it allows for me to decompress, destress, and refocus on what I need to do.
Another thing that college students can do to stay motivated is to surround themselves with people that care and will push you to be a better version of yourself. By surrounding yourself in a good environment, you can learn to be more positive and ultimately be more motivated in your work.
I also believe that another way to stay motivated is to realize that you can always ask for help. If you are feeling overwhelmed or struggling you can talk to your professors and they will most likely be willing to help you.
This is something that I think can be very encouraging especially when you are stressed and can help you stay motivated as well.
To stay motivated you always have to hold yourself accountable but remember to not be too hard on yourself. You have to remember that it’s okay to get overwhelmed at times and be stressed but that you will get through it.
To remember what the end result will be. This is something that I struggle to remind myself of, but want students to know that it will be okay and it will help you to stay more motivated during school!
