How to decorate your dorm for the holidays

Being in a dorm room can really limit your abilities to decorate for the holidays, but there
are still many ways to make it feel fun and festive. Keeping in mind the dorm room rules, here is
some inspiration on how to decorate your dorm room for the holidays.

To begin, you can buy a fake tree and ornaments. Depending on the size of your room, it
can affect the size of the tree that you buy. There are stores like Five Below that sell three foot or
four foot fake trees, which are the perfect size for a small room. These trees come in a kit with
some lights, colored ornaments and a stand. It makes the perfect simple decoration if you are
looking to add some holiday spirit into your room. Along with this, you can buy some cheap
ornaments and hang them on your small tree, or even make your own. This allows for a personal
touch to the decoration as well.

Another way that you could decorate your dorm is by adding some colorful lights or a
mini projector with holiday patterns on it. This makes the room university-safe, but still adds to
the holiday spirit. You could hang the lights anywhere: around your desk, around the perimeter
of the whole room, around the doors or even around your bed. Also, buying a mini lamp or
projector that has holiday patterns, such as snowflakes and stars, that can be cast onto the walls,
makes a simple and cozy decoration.

You can also buy some cheap wreaths and garland from a store like Michaels to decorate
your dorm. You can hang the wreaths on your door on the front and the back of it, and add some
ornaments to it as well.

Wall art or window art are another great way to add a festive feel to your room. Many
stores have holiday window clings that you can easily stick on to any reflective surface. You can
add them to your dorm room windows, to bathroom mirrors (if you have your own bathroom) or
any mirror in the room. They come in all kinds of sizes and patterns like snowflakes, presents,
holiday phrases and even reindeer. You can also utilize window markers to create your own
holiday art. This allows for you to make your holiday decorations special and personal, while
still abiding by dorm rules, as these markers wash off easily. You can also buy or make holiday
posters to hang up around the room or even on the walls. This is something that can be cheap and
simple, and can add some holiday fun to your room with minimal effort.

Desk decorations are a cheap and easy way to make spending time in your dorm more
festive. The desk decorations you can really find anywhere, whether you buy them on Amazon
or from places like Target and Walmart. You can buy character figurines, such as the Grinch, or
Disney figurines, like Mickey Mouse dressed-up in holiday gear. Or, you can purchase small
snow globes to add onto places like your desk, shelves or nightstand in the room.

Finally, many places sell holiday blankets and pillows to make your room super cute and
cozy. Especially since it is very cold in the wintertime, investing in holiday blankets is something
that is perfect when decorating your dorm. The pillows you can buy super cheap as well, making
your bed cozy and your room special.

Obviously, it is important to keep in mind that you make sure all the decorations you buy
are dorm safe. This means that you hang up the lights with command strips and hooks so you
don’t ruin the paint, or using double sided tape to hang up decorative posters.

Decorating for the holidays is something that everyone should be able to enjoy, even
college students. This is something that you can easily do when being in a college dorm because
there are so many simple and easy ways to do so, you just have to get some inspiration
