As college students figuring out how to balance school work, a social life, and your physical and mental health can feel hard. A way to be able to eliminate some stress and anxiety about school work and life in general is by staying organized. Here are some organization tips to help you:
Academic planners are a great tool to help you stay organized. I have an academic planner from Papier, and it comes with a monthly calendar, a weekly overview, monthly overview, assignment tracker, and even a finance tracker. This academic calendar has helped me stay on top of things like my school work, social events, appointments, and just everyday life. For example, I am able to write down my schedule for the semester in the front of the planner, and then write down all of my important assignments in the assignment section. The best part of this planner is the monthly and weekly overview. The monthly overview has important dates, goals for the month, and a to-do list. This is the perfect way to have everything that is important in one place and it is portable as well.
Another good way to stay organized is to start making a to-do list for the day. This way, you can write down your day-to-day schedule. Writing down your tasks throughout the day is a way to make sure that you get your most important tasks out of the way, that way you are on top of things. Also, you are also able to check things off as you go.
I also like making spreadsheets for all of my classes. This is a way to ensure that all your work is in one place with due dates, completion status, and can even keep track of your grades. The way that I do this is go through each of my syllabus and write down my most important assignments for each class. Every class has a separate color, and then when I have finished writing down all the assignments I sort the list by earliest due date to latest. This is an organization tip that I have found the most helpful when it comes to balancing multiple assignments for multiple classes.
Something that can also be helpful is creating a routine that is specific for your day. This way you are able to plan out your day and get adjusted to a certain routine. This can help you stay organized because you can make sure you are staying on task with what you need to do throughout the day.
Further, time management is a big piece in staying organized because it can help you balance your social life and your school life. College can be difficult to adjust to because it’s a whole different ball game to get used to. If you don’t have good time management it can be easy to fall behind, which is why it is so crucial when it comes to organization.
I think that once you learn how to stay organized with school, it can be easier to learn how to get adjusted to college in general. Life can get the best of us sometimes and learning how to be organized with the little things in life, like school work, can make a big difference. Staying on top of your tasks can help you to free up more time to spend with your friends, family, and doing the activities we enjoy most.
