As summer ends and fall approaches, it is the perfect time to sit down and relax with a good book. Reading is a way to escape reality and immerse yourself in a book that you truly enjoy. Luckily, fall is a great time to do so!
Reading was something I enjoyed a lot when I was little, but as life got busier, I fell out of love with it. That was until this past year, when I started to have more time and ended up falling back in love with it.
If you like reading a mix of fantasy and romance, a series I will always recommend is the “A Court of Thorns and Roses” series by Sarah J. Maas. The series consists of five different books, one of which is a novella, and the rest are larger books.
Although each book starts with more development of characters and plot, as the story goes on, they get more intense and action-packed. Maas writes her books in a way that captivates the audience with the last 50 to 100 pages. At this point, it’s as if the book is glued to your hand.
Within Maas’ series, you will be introduced to characters such as Feyre, Nesta, Tamlin, Rysand, and many more. Each character comes with their own story and own development, making the plot of each book mesh together.
If you have read these books and enjoyed them, I recommend Maas’ Throne of Glass as well. In this series, there are only two books that are as intense as the other series. They also follow more of a fantasy plot opposed to a romance plot.
Another set of books I will always recommend to people are “The Hunger Games” books. As a kid, I would read the books over and over again. I fell in love with the plot line, the characters, and everything that the books stood for. When she came out with her most recent book, I reread the series and remembered just how much I loved them.
Whether you are reading it for the love triangle between Katniss, Peeta, and Gale, or the action of the actual games, it is worth every second of your time.
Along with Maas’ and Collins’ series, I am currently reading “Tuesdays with Morrie”. This book is a memoir by Mitch Albom. Although sad, it can teach you a lot about your life. It teaches us that our time on earth is limited and that we need to make the most of it. We need to take vacations, spend time with our friends, family, and just live our lives to the fullest. The book itself is very touching and can change the way you view aspects of life.
Lastly, another book series I am currently reading is “The Summer I Turned Pretty”. Although it is a bit niche, the series has had me hooked.
I started to read the books because I love watching the show and wanted to understand it more in-depth. Now, I, of course, am enjoying the books more than the show.
With these books, fall may just be a tiny bit cozier than you’d expect.
