Monmouth University’s Class of 2029 has set the tone as they have acquired the title of the most academically prepared class in Monmouth’s 92-year history.
Monmouth’s incoming class continues to advance academically each year. Last year’s incoming class was just shy of the grade point average (GPA) record set by the class of 2027 at 3.64. The class of 2028 held a GPA of 3.62 and we have only seen it increase. This year’s class took the title of the most academically prepared class as they jumped to a GPA of 3.67.
“I chose Monmouth because I do have a family line that went here and worked here including my grandfather, grandmother, uncle, aunt, and father. I also chose Monmouth academically because the science department and education is great and I am a biology pre-med major. The Monmouth University community was very welcoming as soon as I stepped on campus and felt like home!!” Brianna Klohn,
a freshman biology pre-med major said.
Not only has the incoming class accumulated the highest GPA but highest SAT scores submitted for evaluation (1225) and the most Honors School enrollment (126) of any first-year class.
Monmouth’s commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion is evident through the new class as Monmouth not only welcomes a new academically driven class but also a new community of first-generation and/or low income (FLI) students, which make up 55.8 percent of the first-year class.
“The students in this incoming class bring the strongest academic credentials in our history, a broad range of lived experiences, and a clear commitment to shaping their futures,” Patrick F. Leahy in “Class of 2029 Tallies Highest GPA, SAT of Any Incoming Class” on Monmouth University Website. “They chose Monmouth because we deliver rigorous academics and real opportunity. The profile of this class demonstrates our progress toward becoming a national leader in integrating excellence and access. We remain focused on expanding pathways to success without compromising quality,” he said.
The Monmouth Promise which is aimed at making high-quality education as accessible as possible provides financial assistance to eligible Monmouth class of 2029 students.
Monmouth Promise awards are paired with Pell and TAG grants to help cover tuition for students who qualify. According to the Monmouth University website, 40.8 percent of incoming students are Pell Grant-eligible, making it the highest percentage in Monmouth University history. From the Class of 2029, 100 students have enrolled in the Monmouth Promise, growing by 400 percent year-over-year.
Brayden DeVito, a freshman business administration major said, “I chose Monmouth because I felt this was the school that was best for me. I noticed there were so many opportunities to get involved with and I love being active so I just knew it was the right choice. I’m really looking forward to my time here and all the possibilities to explore.”
