The University’s football team dropped two conference road games and fell to 4-4 (0-3 Big South) on the season. The Hawks fell to Presbyterian 17-13 on Oct. 13 in Clinton, SC and fell short to Liberty 52-28 on their Homecoming in front of 16,687 fans at Williams Stadium in Lynchburg, VA.
The Monmouth offense exploded for 572 total yards in their 59-27 victory over Howard on Saturday afternoon. Three hundred fourty-three of those yards came on the ground and four running backs combined to score six of the offense’s eight touchdowns.
The Hawks overcame a two touchdown halftime deficit and forced overtime on Saturday afternoon, where they defeated the Fordham Rams 42-41 on a two-point conversion.
The women’s soccer team began their MAAC Conference play and are off to a 2-0 start after defeating Marist 3-2 on Sept. 17 and Manhattan 3-0 on Sept. 24.
In the 24th and final home opener at Kessler Field for the Monmouth football program, the Hawks saw firsthand the gap that stands between them and the defending Big South champions.
The Monmouth University men’s and women’s golf teams have teed off their fall seasons. The men have competed in one event so far, while the women have competed in two.
Both the men’s and women’s cross country teams have started the new season on the right track, with both teams finishing first in the Monmouth XC Kick-Off at Thompson Park on Sept. 3.

After going 5-6 a season ago in their second season in the Big South and finishing in third place in the conference with a 3-3 record, the Hawks opened up the 2016 campaign in a place they will have to get used to: on the road.
A season ago, the Monmouth University football team made history when they traveled to Mount Pleasant, Michigan for their first ever game against a Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) school.
