Baseball Swept by Temple Over Weekend

Usually the baseball team plays only conference games on the weekends, but this past weekend proved as a rarity. The Hawks played in a battle of the birds as they took on the non-conference Temple Owls in a two games series. One game was played Friday, at Monmouth while the other was on Sunday at Temple University in Philadelphia. Originally scheduled to be a three game series, the Saturday game was postponed with the anticipation of a heavy rainfall.

Women’s Basketball Splits Conference Games at the MAC

This past week, the Hawks split their home stand with a win over Sacred Heart but a loss to Farleigh Dickinson. The Hawks are now have a 13-11 record while being 8-5 in the NEC bringing them to a tie for third place with Saint Francis College. With the playoffs approaching, Coach Jenny Palmateer does not believe it matters whether you face first or last place, it just matters if you win. “Right now every game is just important as the next,” Coach Palmateer states, “All the teams in conference are jockeying for position as the regular season winds down.”

Women’s Basketball Winning Streak Stops at Eight

Hard work often leads to success in the sports world. For Lady Hawks basketball team, this old adage rings true. The Hawk cagers started their season poorly struggling through a 3-8 record prior to the long winter break. Regrouping, the team put together a good run and currently stand with an 11-9 record. The women have high hopes of ending the season with a championship trophy sitting on their mantel.

Hawks Have Won Their Last Seven Games After Starting 3-8

The saying “there’s no place like home” could not have been truer for the Lady Hawks basketball team this break. While most of the students of the University were rewarded with a winter break, the same could not be said about their team. From December 21 to January 16, the women competed in six games. Heading into the month-long break, the women held a losing record of 3-8. By January 15, the Hawks managed to improve their record to an even 8-8 by winning five consecutive games.
