The Hawks took on two teams in the Ivy League this week when they faced off against Columbia and Princeton.

The field hockey team impressed everyone this past week as they stretched their win streak to five games. Unfortunately, the streak came to an end this past Saturday as the Hawks fell to the University of Albany 21. Albany is ranked 16th in the nation.

Why, in a world full of social networking and a population full of people who need information “now,” can’t we fill the stands at a Hawk home game? With Facebook group joining becoming the norm, and Tweets flying 24/7, shouldn’t it be our first objective to do whatever we can do to get fans to come out and enjoy a sporting event?

The Men’s soccer team got off to a rough start this week, falling to Old Dominion 31 last Sunday in the final game of the Stihl Soccer Classic.

“We will win the NEC this year, there is no doubt in my mind,” exclaimed junior Nicole Manziano when asked about what her predictions were for the season. The field hockey team is looking to build on the success they experienced last season and to take the next step and become NEC champions in 2011.

Monmouth goes on the road and picks up a huge win over the Villanova Wildcats to improve to 11 on the season.

Hawk football is back after a disappointing 2010. The preseason rankings predict the Hawks to finish sixth in the Northeast Conference.

As finals came to a close on May 11, many students packed their bags and headed home for the summer. However, students that participated in spring sports remained behind as each of their seasons rolled on.
