The University has recently recognized a new club on campus — Surf Club. On Wednesday, Nov. 5, Monmouth’s SGA approved the club after one final presentation given by Surf Club President, sophomore Tyler Sankey and Surf Club Vice President, sophomore Connor Perzely.

The women’s basketball team opened their season this past weekend as they hosted Lehigh University in the MAC. Playing with home court advantage, the Hawks were unable to secure their first victory as they fell to Lehigh, 82-70.
Field Hockey Wins MAAC Title for First Time
Will Host Princeton on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 1 pm for NCAA Tournament
Among one of field hockey’s largest audiences at So Sweet A Cat Field, the Hawks made history over the weekend. The blue and white defeated Sacred Heart University, 2-1, in the semi-finals and Rider University in the finals, 6-1, to become the 2014 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) champions.
The March to Madness Begins this Friday
The men’s basketball team is set to tip-off their season on Friday, Nov. 14, at West Virginia. The team is coming off an 11-21 season last year, which includes a conference record of 5-15. That placed them ninth out of eleven teams in their first season as members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). The MAAC was won by Iona during the regular season, while Manhattan won the conference tournament to move on to the NCAA tournament. MU lost to Rider in the first round of the MAAC tournament to finish their season.
Surfers “Drop-In” Despite Drop in Temperature
Cold. It’s starting to become a part of our lives again. As much as we’ve blocked it out of our minds, it is upon us. As the fall season grows old and winter creeps in, surfing will not (can not) stop. The days that end at five o clock, the days that happiness seems impossible, the days that we hate to get out of bed, can very well be transformed by pumping surf.
Men’s Soccer Advances to Semifinals
After clinching a birth in the MAAC Championship Tournament with a 2-0 win over rival St. Peter’s, the men’s soccer team stayed hot and advanced to the semi-finals of the tournament with a 3-0 win over the Sienna Saints.
Hawks Hang Tough, But Fall Late to Liberty
The Hawks’ football team’s pursuit of their first Big South win will have to wait another week after falling to the Liberty Flames, 34-24. With their third straight loss, the Hawks’ record drops to 5-4 (0-3 in Big South) while the Flames improve to 7-3 (3-0 in Big South).

Field Hockey Wins League Title: First Time Since 2000
The field hockey team had a weekend for the books on So Sweet A Cat Field. The Hawks faced two conference contenders, Siena College and Bryant University, both crucial games needed to solidify first place in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). On Friday, the Hawks defeated the Siena Saints 9-1 and on Sunday, they topped the Bryant Bulldogs 4-0 to celebrate ‘senior day.’ The victories put them at a new MAAC record of 4-1, making them the 2014 regular season MAAC champions.
Football Still Seeks First Big South Win
The Hawk’s football team was shutout by the Charleston Southern Buccaneers, 27-0, on Saturday at a rain soaked Kessler Field. With the loss, MU drops to 5-3 (0-2 in the Big South) while Charleston Southern improves to 6-3 (1-2 in the Big South).
