Men’s LAX End Inaugural Season Winless

On Saturday, April 26, the men's lacrosse team fell to the Detroit Titans, 11-6, in their final game of 2014. With the loss, the blue and white end their inaugural season at 0-13 (0-6 MAAC).

Leading the way for MU were freshmen Chris Daly and Eric Berger. Daly scored a team-high three goals and added an assist. Berger posted his third two-goal game in the last four games.

Detroit opened up the scoring with a goal from Shayne Adams at the 11:49 mark in the first. Two minutes later, the blue and white responded with a goal from Berger off a feed from Daly. MU took a 2-1 lead with 5:21 left in the first quarter off of a rocket shot by Daly with the assist credited to freshman Kevin Osback.

The Titans, however, answered back with two consecutive goals in the final three minutes to jump back in front 3-2. The second quarter was all Detroit as Adams scored four goals to increase the Titans lead to 7-2 at the half.

The Hawks outscored the Titans 3-1 in the third quarter to cut the lead to 8-5. Berger started the rally scoring an unassisted goal. Daly notched his second goal of the contest off of an assist from freshman Colin Reilly, which was his first career point for MU. Daly then scored his third goal, which was unassisted, to end the quarter.

However, Detroit responded with three straight goals in the final frame to jump out to an 11-5 lead with 5:31 left in the game. Freshman Dan Bloodgood responded with his twelfth goal of the season.

MU outshot Detroit 43-30 in the contest, which included a 28-13 edge in the first half. Freshman goalkeeper Nick Hreshko made a pair of saves in the first half for the Hawks, while junior goalie Garrett Conaway made six stops in the second half. Detroit goalkeeper Jason Weber made 18 saves for the Titans.

"Today was another one of those games where I'm certainly proud of our effort and we played really hard until the end," head coach Brian Fisher said. "We will continue to learn, improve and get better from this. The future will be very bright for us."

Daly was the team's top scorer with 17 in 13 games, 11 of which he started. He also lead the team in assists at nine and total points with 26.

Bloodgood scored 12 goals throughout the season earning him the spot of second top scorer. He also came in second with assits at seven and points at 19. Bloodgood played and started all 13 games.
