Men’s Tennis: The University men’s tennis team dropped two matches against DePaul (6-1) and Notre Dame (7-0) over the weekend. Senior Przemyslaw Filipek picked up the lone win for the Hawks on the weekend, a singles matchup against DePaul’s Alex Galoustian, 6-4 and 7-6. Senior Christian Viera (1-6, 6-2, 6-3) and freshman Vikrant Dahiya (3-6, 6-2, 7-5) went to a third set after winning the first, but both came up short. Monmouth dropped all six of the doubles matches on the weekend. The blue and white will head to Washington, DC for a pair of matches against Georgetown on Saturday and George Washington on Sunday. Saturday’s match is scheduled for a 4:00 p.m start, while Sunday’s match will begin at noon.

Sweeney and McGee Earn NJCBA Honors
Outfielder Craig Sweeney (Middletown, N.J./Middletown South) and pitcher Andrew McGee (Toms River, N.J./Toms River South) have earned weekly honors from the New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association after their performances last week that included a sweep over Marist. McGee was named NJ Pitcher of the Week, while Sweeney picked up New Jersey Player of the Week accolades.
Women’s Golf Opens Spring Season with Strong Start
The women’s golf team kicked off their spring season in Boulder City, Nevada earlier this month. The Hawks competed in The Battle at Boulder Creek at Boulder Creek Golf Course on March 5th and 6th for the second consecutive year. The golf course was played at 6,252 yards with a par of 72. The tournament was a 54 hole event, with 36 holes played during round one and 18 holes played during round two. The field consisted of 12 teams, including Austin Peay State, Eastern Washington, Georgetown, Idaho State, Illinois-Chicago, James Madison, Monmouth, Montana State, Morehead State, Northern Kentucky, Oklahoma City, Radford.
