Cross Country Competes at Princeton

The University’s men’s and women’s cross country teams participated in Princeton University’s Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 18. Out of 35 teams, the men tied for 15th with 417 points while the women placed 16th out of 37 teams with 481 points.

The 278 women competing in the race were to run a 6.1k course. Winning first overall was Sarah Rapp from Virginia Tech; she finished the race in 21:11.

Sophomore Jenna Cupp was the first Hawk to finish the race at 22:48 earning her 60th overall. Junior Sydney Engelberger finished 13 seconds later earning 82nd place. The third Hawk to complete the race was sophomore Molly McKeon in 23:10 making her 97th overall. MU’s fourth runner was freshman Allie Wilson whose time was 23:25 while sophomore Kristen Rodgers-Erickson ran 23:51.

Sophomore Lennon Cooper finished next followed by juniors Kendal Hand and Nina Poccia.

The men, who ran against nearly 250 runners, raced on a 8k course. Senior Khari Bowen crossed the line at 24:54 which made him the first Hawk to finish for the men’s side. He finished 33rd overall. Next to cross was junior Graham Huggins-Filozof at 25:22, good enough for 72nd overall. MU’s third finisher was junior Domenick D’Agostino at 25:37 for a 96th place finish. Senior Alex Leight came in at 25:41 with freshman Ben Dillon close behind at 25:43. Rounding out the Hawk’s top seven was senior Tommy Darlington at 25:44 and junior Kevin French at 26:03.

MU’s next feat will be to host the 2014 MAAC Cross Country Championships on Friday, Oct. 31 at Holmdel Park. The men will begin at 11 am and the women will begin at 12 pm. Admission is free.
