The Monmouth Track and Field team wrapped up their regular season at the Garden State Track Club Invite on Friday, Feb. 17. It was a great way to finish the season for the Hawks as 11 of them placed inside the top five for their individual events.
Junior Gretel Jelmert came out on top in the women’s pole vault event, with a clearance of 3.66m. This was Jelmert’s personal best and fourth-best in school history. Freshman Faith DeCarlo was not far behind, with a mark of 3.35m, coming in second.
The men’s 60m hurdles saw quite the success from the Hawks as sophomore LeConte Stover came in first place with an 8.57 mark, redshirt junior Brandon Muir placed second with a time of 6.94, and sophomore James Burrus, Jr., placed fourth with a time of 7.09.
Junior Thomas Schulz placed fourth in the men’s 3000m with a time of 8:40.49, to set a new personal record.
The Hawks will compete at the CAA Indoor Championships starting Thursday, Feb. 22.
