I think it’s safe to say at some point in our college life, we’ve wondered if we were
buying the right things or if we were forgetting something. The worst is not having a clue about
where to start when buying college essentials and how you can find relatively cheap items. As
college students, we’re looking for affordability, and efficiency, while also staying on top of trends.
Considering this, I have compiled a list of Amazon Must Haves I think every college student
could benefit from here at Monmouth University.
Let’s start with a very basic and essential need – a water bottle. Whether you’re dorming
this semester or are a commuter, we all have to stay hydrated. The following two water bottle
options I have found keep your water cold for the longest and hold the perfect amount of water:
Owala and Stanley. The other cool thing about these water bottles is all the color options they
have nowadays. You could sport a neutral or black Owala or a navy blue Stanley to represent
Monmouth! You could even dress them up with stickers to make it personal to you.
The next college must have an academic planner. I have found many students are using
their calendar app on their phone, and while that is easy access, keeping a physical calendar
might help you keep tabs of your personal, work and school life better. Linked here are two of

Up next on our list is a portable phone charger. One of the worst feelings is having a long
day of classes and studying, and then seeing that your phone isn’t going to make it through the
end of your day. Sure, you could hope there is an outlet nearby, but there’s a chance those are
taken or don’t have any accessible seats or tables to them – and no one wants to just leave their
phone across the room. My solution is always carrying a portable charger everywhere I go. You
never know when your “early day” might turn into staying at the library or the Great Hall to get
ahead on homework. My two faves from Amazon are this small portable charger or this mini
power bank, but there are a ton of great options!
The final college essential I’ll bring to your attention is headphones. Having a long walk
from the parking lot or dorms to your class or pulling a study session after hours can be grueling
without headphones. When I forget my headphones at home, I have a tough time walking to my
car after a tough day of classes. If you’re lucky, sometimes you’ll have a buddy to talk to, but we
all know how boring it can be to stride quietly on your own. I’ve gathered some more affordable

College doesn’t have to be a scary or lonely time where we’re afraid to ask for advice or
help. Remember that there is always someone who has been through it and knows how to help
or someone who can relate because they are going through it right now too; Community is the
way we get through it!
