Fall book recommendations

Growing up, all I did was read. I loved reading, but as I got busier, the time to read got shorter and shorter. However, now that I am in college, I’ve had a bit more time to start it back up and really have begun to enjoy it again. With the fall season in full swing, here are a few books you should read as the weather gets chiller.

One of my favorite series to read growing up was the “Hunger Games” trilogy by Suzanne Collins; I highly recommend these books to anyone that loves the movies. Although the movies differ from some of the details in the books, if you watched the movies and loved them, the books you are sure to love as well. I believe that if you read the books and watch the movies you are able to see two different views on the same story that Suzanne Collins was trying to tell.

Along with this, the books involve several complex characters all with their own stories, personalities, motivations and flaws. This allows for readers to really connect to a specific character whether it be Katniss, Peeta or any of the others that struggle with their emotions, thoughts, and feelings. Also, the books have an engaging plot that makes you want to keep reading. I remember never being able to put the books down, and actually rereading them because I found the stories so interesting. The main plot of the books centers around main character Katniss Everdeen; she is a very strong protagonist that many readers, especially female readers, can relate to. The plot of the books grow stronger through each one focusing on themes around war, media, government control and social inequality.

Another book that I would highly recommend to anyone is “A Court of Thorns and Roses.” This is a book that I most recently finished and I couldn’t be happier or more pleased with how much I enjoyed it.
Honestly, it took me a really long time to open the book and get started, but once I did, I could not stop.
If you are someone that is into fantasy books, this is one I would highly recommend you pick up and read. Although it has a slow start, the middle and ending make you want to continue reading and pick up the next one in the series. The plot has only a few main characters which allows for the readers to really follow along and learn to love the main ones that are in the story.

Additionally, they are complex characters all with their own struggles, values and backgrounds, which is what makes the book. Another great part about this book is the plot because it’s always moving and always changing, which allows for the readers to constantly be engaged.

The final reason I would recommend this book is because of the themes. “A Court of Thorns and Roses” explores themes of love, resilience, self-growth and sacrifice, all within a story that revolves around a fantasy world. If you are into any of these themes, I would highly recommend it. And, if you love the first book, there are four more within the series that allow for you to continue – that’s what I am doing right now!

Reading is something that I am just starting to get back into and I definitely want to explore more books. If you are looking to start reading, the “Hunger Games” series is the best place to start; there are three books and a fourth book, which is a prequel. Then, if you are feeling up to it, you can start the “A Court of Thorns and Roses” series which has five main books.

In general, I would recommend any kind of romance and fantasy books just because those are my favorite. They always keep me engaged and entertained, which is something that I love when it comes to reading. Along with this, the fall and the winter time is the perfect opportunity to start something new – what better way to spend fall and winter with a new book series?
