Women’s soccer capture 3-0 win over W&M

It was Summer Reimet’s pair of goals that helped Monmouth secure their 3-0 win over William & Mary on Thursday Sept. 28. As William & Mary were coming off of two back-to-back wins to begin CAA play, Monmouth would have to get past William & Mary’s goalkeeper, Jazzy Lorenz, and they did just that.
With seven matchups in the all-time series, none of which Monmouth were able to come out on top of, they knew they would have to apply pressure early. Within the first 20 minutes, the Hawks had already fired off five shots, attempting to get on the board early.

The Hawks continued to try and find opportunities offensively but Lorenz for the Tribe showcased her skill with a couple of great saves.

After a Monmouth ball off the crossbar and a pair of saves from goalkeeper Cassie Coster, both teams remained scoreless at the half.

The second half, the Hawks came alive and just 10 minutes into the second half forward Ashley Lavrich found forward Summer Reimet who sent the ball into the corner of the net to give Monmouth their first goal of the day.

Reimet added her second goal of the day in the 72nd minute when midfielder Liza Suydam found her on the right hand corner of the goal.

The Hawks final goal came in the 83rd minute when forward Loren Gehret sent the ball into the far corner of the net, past Lorenz, to set the final score at 3-0.

Coster recorded her fifth shutout of the season and twenty fifth of her career after five saves against the Tribe. Remeit’s seventh goal this season not only secured her season-high but her career high as well after her six goals as a freshman.

The Hawks will take on Stony Brook on Thursday Oct. 3 in Stony Brook, N.Y.
