Grad Students Create Documentary on Living a Monsanto-Free Lifestyle
Two University students working toward their Masters degrees in social work have teamed up together to document their experience living a Monsantofree lifestyle for six weeks. Mary Szacik and Jessica Kostenblatt hope to bring awareness to the public about the large corporations that have a strong influence over the global food supply and food policy. In particular, they are focusing on Monsanto Inc., a multinational agricultural biotechnology company who is the leading producer of genetically engineered seeds in the world.
Asbestos Removed from Howard Hall During Break
The first floor of Howard Hall underwent an asbestos abatement which lasted for five days at the end of December. Amid the process, public access was prohibited. Facilities Management dis-covered the problem as a result of loose tiles damaged by water infiltration.
Honors Newsletter Wins Third Place in National Contest
The University’s honors newsletter, Areté, was chosen as this year’s third place winner of the National Collegiate Honors Council Newsletter Contest. The ceremony, which took place on October 22, was held in Phoenix, Arizona.
Renowned Environmentalist to Speak at Ocean Symposium
The renowned ocean explorer and environmentalist, Jean-Michel Cousteau, will be this year’s keynote speaker at The “Seventh Annual Future of the Ocean Symposium and Champions of the Ocean Awards Luncheon.” The event will take place on October 21 in Woodrow Wilson Hall at 10:00 am. Along with speaking at the conference, Cousteau will be honored as a National Champion of the Ocean.
