But what is the rage around these brackets, I mean aren’t they just pieces of paper? Well once March rolls around, NCAA basketball becomes a way of life. Women’s Basketball Falls to Sacred Heart in NEC Title Game
The women’s basketball team erased an 18-point deficit but fell to top-seeded Sacred Heart, 58-48, in the Northeast Conference Tournament Championship Sunday afternoon at the Pitt Center. Alysha Womack (Springfield, Pa./Cardinal O’Hara) finished with a team-high 13 points for the Hawks, whose season ends at 19-13. The Pioneers (25-7) advance to the NCAA Tournament with the win.

Men’s and Women’s Track Teams Post Record-Setting Weekend

The men’s team totaled 27 points, the most ever at the IC4A’s by Monmouth. It was good enough for a ninth place finish. The men’s basketball team finished the regular season with two big home wins against St. Francis (N.Y.) and Long Island University – Brooklyn. The Hawks finish the season as the sixth seed in the Northeast Conference (NEC) and will face Robert Morris in the first round of the conference tournament.
