The women’s basketball team opened its 2015-16 season this past Friday, falling to the Lehigh University Mountain Hawks 95-88 in overtime in Stabler Arena. Senior guard Jamiyah Bethune’s career-high 22 points and senior guard Sarah Olsen’s five three-point field goals were not enough to continue the programs 6-2 overall record over Lehigh.

The first seeded Hawks suffered a 3-2 loss to the second-seeded Rider Broncs on Monday, Nov. 9 The loss breaks the Hawks’ 17-game unbeaten streak, which is now a standing national record.

After two tightly contested conference games at home, the Hawks hit the road again for their next game against Kennesaw State. MU fell to the Owls 23-13 at Fifth Third Bank Stadium in Atlanta.
Monmouth Student-Athletes Invited to WSF Connection
Seven Monmouth student athletes attended the first ever Women’s Sports Foundation Athlete Leadership Connection on October 19, an event specifically designed to inspire and propel female athletes who wish to become powerful leaders in the business world as well as in their sport. Seniors Sarah Olson and Jasmine Walker of Women’s Basketball, seniors Michelle Gonzales and Marial Pierce of Women’s Lacrosse, seniors Danielle Axelrod and Kristen Brett of Women’s Soccer, and senior Nicole Sandelier of Softball were in attendance along with 30 elite world-renowned female athletes, all interested in expanding her potential beyond her sport.
