The men’s basketball team clinched a first-round bye in the upcoming MAAC tournament when they took down the Peacocks of St. Peter’s University 63-58 this past Thursday, Feb. 19 in Jersey City.

Track and Field Reign as MAAC Champions
The Monmouth University men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams won the 2015 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday at The Armory, repeating as conference champions.
Women’s Basketball Splits NY Road Trip
The Hawks cold Western, NY road trip started with a passionate double overtime win against the Purple Eagles of Niagara. An overall team effort boosted the Hawks to a 81-69 victory at the ‘Taps’ Gallagher Center. MU had five players post double figures. Sophomore guard Helena Kurt lead the charge with 21 points, five rebounds, and four assists, while sophomore forward Christina Mitchell posted her team leading fifth double-double of the season by knocking down 13 points, and posting 10 boards. The game’s five players in double figures marked the first time MU has reached that feat all year.

Senior goalkeep Katie Donohoe was named MAAC Defensive Player of the Week after last Wednesday’s 5-2 win over the Drexel Dragons. Donohoe made five saves in the game, three of which came in the second half.
Men’s Basketball Edges MAAC Opponent Marist, 69-65
The Hawks have taken sole possession of third place in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) improving to 11-5 in conference play, 15-12 overall, with a 69-65 win over the tenth place Marist Red Foxes on Monday night in the Multipurpose Activity Center.
Women’s Lacrosse Wins Season Opener Over Lafayette
The University’s women’s lacrosse team faced off against the Lafayette Leopards on Saturday, Feb. 14 and ended up taking the day with a sweeping 10-3 victory.

The men’s tennis team dropped both their matches in the ECAC Tournament this past weekend. The Hawks first fell 4-0 to St. John’s on Friday, Feb. 13 in the tournament’s opening round, and then fell again 4-2 at the hands of George Washington in Saturday’s consolation match.
Men’s Lacrosse Enters Year Two in West Long Branch
Preseason for the Monmouth University men’s lacrosse program is in full swing with the first whistle less than a week away. The boys in blue are coming off their inaugural season where they finished with a humbling record of 0-13. But don’t let their record from last year write the story, MU holds an attribute few can bolster. The MU lacrosse program returns a staggering 27 letter-winners from last year’s squad; senior defender and co-captain Ryan Horsch couldn’t be more thrilled.
