Men’s Tennis Falls to FDU in Championship

The men’s tennis team fell to Farleigh Dickinson on Sunday 4-0 in the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship match at the Mercer County Tennis Center. The Knights were the number one seed in the tournament and the Blue and White were the third seed.

The Knights won the doubles point and the first three single matches finished.

In the No. 1 singles competition, the Knight’s Arvis Berzins defeated Freddy Marcinkowski 6-2, 6-4. In the No. 2 singles matchup, Ibrahim Shams topped Monmouth’s Francis Jedlinski 6-0, 6-1. Yuri Gricheno of the Knights faced Laurence Heads in the No. 3 singles match that went unfinished. The No. 4 and No. 5 singles matchups also ended unfinished. In the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles competitions, FDU defeated Monmouth 8-2. The No. 2 doubles matchup ended unfinished.

The Hawks finished the season with an 8-12 record, 5-4 in the NEC.

Farleigh Dickinson is 15-8 overall and 7-0 in the NEC. They will go on to compete in the NCAA tournament.
