Monmouth Sports Industry Club takes a trip to the Barclays Center

The Monmouth Sports Industry Club is focused on connecting its members with professionals within the sports industry. They do this by hosting meetings, typically via zoom with professionals within the sports industry. Recently, the club hosted a meeting with Amanda Bucci, the Executive Assistant to the General Manager and Danielle Berger, the Executive Assistant to the Head Coach.

After meeting with Bucci and Berger, members who attended the meeting were invited to attend a Brooklyn Nets game. Frank Hoarle, a sophomore member of the club said, “Going to Brooklyn was a super fun and enjoyable experience. I loved the atmosphere. Being able to watch the game in a suite with my friends was something I’ll never forget.”

This opportunity allowed for some of the members to meet both Bucci and Berger in person for the first time. However, the club’s relationship with the two is not new. Ryan White, Vice President, said, “The Brooklyn Nets trip to Barclays Center is a huge opportunity for our club, and being personally invited by executives Amanda and Danielle set the stage for a strengthened relationship from the very start. Their ongoing support over the years has made this experience even more special.”

He continued, “This trip offers our members first hand exposure to the professional sports industry—allowing us to learn directly from experts, observe the business side of a major organization, and build valuable connections. Opportunities like this are what make the Sports Industry Club such a vital resource for students looking to break into the industry.”

Networking is often attributed to success, especially within the sports industry. Hoarle said, “Being able to network with people has been very important to me throughout my college career, and having an opportunity to talk to those who work in my field is something I’ll always cherish!”
This trip was an opportunity for members of the club to foster both personal and professional relationships. Chloe Gosk, junior member, said “The trip to the Nets game was really amazing! I got to experience my first NBA game with my closest peers and more importantly, grow my network with some amazing people from the Brooklyn Nets organization.”

Nolan Spurr, the club’s networking officer said, “It was awesome being able to travel to New York with some of my best friends and meet some of the people who work within the Nets organization and watch basketball.”
The Sports Industry Club will host its next meeting on Apr. 3 with Michael Brech at 7 pm. Follow @musportsindustry for more updates.
