A mini guide to snow day fun

So far this year, we have seen so much snow. Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on how you feel about it, this week’s snowstorm will not be the last of it.

If you’re anything like me, you have a hard time sitting still. I need something to do. These are all the things I did on Sunday and Monday last week, when the blizzard was happening. I hope you can find at least one idea for next time.

Tidy up.
Since you’ll be stuck
inside, it’s good to declutter and clean up a space. Especially if you’ve been wanting to do it and have been putting it off. If you’re going to be stuck inside, might as well have a nice, clean environment around you. This can be reorganizing your closet, going through your pantry, or even simply vacuuming the rug.

Read.
This one is more obvious, but pick up a good book, and the hours will fly by. I did plenty of this during the snow day.

Watch something.
Short series have been trending, and I honestly love it. You can watch them easily and get through them fast. My favorite one so far is definitely All Her Fault. I’ve also watched His and Hers and The Stranger, which I also recommend.

Do some work.
Obviously, while missing a day and being moved online, everyone probably has work from at least one class. I would recommend working on whatever assignment you have. If you don’t have one, it’s a great time to get ahead of your work and look at the syllabus for what’s coming next week.

Play games.
Unless you live alone, games are a great way to pass the time. I personally love board games and card games. If you are alone, I say bring back Game Pigeon and play some online games with a friend!

Bake.
You can honestly make whatever you want! It’s always a fun way to pass the time, plus you get a treat in the end. I obviously didn’t bake this, but I did start making something new over the weekend. Take a little bit of Cool Whip and a little bit of marshmallow fluff, and mix them. Put this mixture on a chocolate rice cake, melt some chocolate, and pour it on top. After a few minutes in the freezer, it was the most perfect snack.

Obviously, it’s not easy being stuck inside due to the weather, but these few things helped me survive this weekend, and I’m sure many weekends to come. Stay safe everyone!
