However, since the recent Presidential election, safety pins have taken on a whole new meaning. Rather than being used as a fashion fix, they are being utilized as a political statement. They have become an actual pin of safety, symbolizing that those who wear the pin are allies to people of color, immigrants, the LGBTQ community, religious minorities, and anyone else who has experienced discrimination.

Twelve delegates from Monmouth University’s Greek community attended the Northeast Greek Leadership Association (NGLA) conference this past weekend in Pittsburgh, PA. The students in attendance applied to represent Monmouth, alongside Assistant Director of Student Activites For Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL), Michele Kaplan.
Monmouth University’s Inter-Fraternity Council (IFC) hosted its annual Fraternity Open House last Wed., Jan. 27at 10 p.m. in Pozycki Hall Auditorium. The council invited all potential new male members to attend and learn about the fraternal organizations the university has to offer.
Monmouth University’s Greek community continues to rise in numbers as spring semester recruitment begins with “Meet the Greeks” held on Tuesday, Jan. 19, the first day of classes. The event gave students interested in Greek life a to meet all of the organizations that Monmouth has to offer.
