After losing the first two games of their home stand, the Monmouth women’s basketball team closed it with a 68-56 victory over the Iona Gaels.

Men’s Basketball lost to the Iona Gaels 76-73 in a game that featured nine lead changes in on Friday night.

After winning their last meet on Jan. 13 at the Angry Birds Challenge in Bethlehem, PA, Monmouth University’s track and field team competed in the NYC Gotham Cup at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, NY on Friday, Jan. 19. On the same day, some of the Hawks went and competed in the Ramapo College Invitational at the 168th Street Armory in New York, NY.

As you grow up and the past starts to fade, your youthful days pass and the fun of high school dims.  College shows up just in time for adulthood to start gnawing at you.  Just like any other adolescent, this process is the same for an aspiring professional athlete.

Men’s basketball was defeated by the University of Connecticut Huskies 84-81 in another overtime battle on Saturday night.

I always talk about how the stars have to align for an athlete to become a professional; I’ve seen guys with more talent than I ever had never make it. Finding the right place to develop, avoiding injury, playing in front of the right coaches, picking the right agent, every little aspect matters. One thing goes wrong and it could all fall apart.
