I am a Disney adult and I am not ashamed. In fact, I’m here to persuade you into becoming a Disney adult yourself. Here is why you should vacation at Disney World:
For those of you who don’t know, Disney World is a theme park located in Lake Buena Vista, FL. This destination was named after its founder, Walt Disney, who sadly passed away five years before the park’s debut in 1971. Disney World was originally one park, The Magic Kingdom, but has now expanded to an additional three parks (Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, and Epoct), along with a “downtown” area (Disney Springs), two waterparks (Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon) and a number of value to deluxe resort options.
So, why vacation at Disney over somewhere else? Three words: food, thrills, and magic.
I have genuinely had some of the most delicious meals in Disney World. Disney offers snacks, drinks, quick-service, and sit-down meal options to appease every kind of palette. My favorite snack is “Jack-Jack’s Num Num Cookie” which you can grab at the Neighborhood Bakery located in Pixar Place in Hollywood Studios. This cookie, named after “The Incredibles” star Jack-Jack, is basically just a massive chocolate chip cookie that is baked to absolute perfection. I had it for breakfast because hey, I was in Disney World.
Not all of Disney’s food options are so simple as a chocolate chip cookie. Cheeseburger pods (Pandora’s Satu’li Canteen, Animal Kingdom), blue milk (Star-Wars: Galaxy’s Edge’s Milk Stand, Hollywood Studios), and the gray stuff (Fantasy Land’s Be Our Guest Restaurant, Magic Kingdom) are all creative, delicious treats you are guaranteed to have never had before.
Of course, I can’t forget about the arguably best place to eat in Disney World— the World Showcase at Epcot. From fish and chips in England to hummus fries in Morocco, this diverse cuisine will leave your taste buds dancing. To learn more about how Disney imagineers tirelessly craft new, mouth-watering treats, give “Behind the Attraction” season two, episode four “The Food” a watch.
Second, and most obvious, Disney is not just for little kids! There are plenty of attractions in every park that are guaranteed to make even the wildest thrill-seeker scream. Disney World’s new ride, Tron Lightcycle Run, is arguably one of the biggest and most thrilling attractions Disney has crafted to date. “You’ll climb aboard your very own Lightcycle and race through a dark, computerized world alongside your family and friends. As you swoop and swerve throughout the course, your team will compete to be the first to race through eight Energy Gates and claim victory,” stated Disney.
Other attractions including Tower of Terror, Rockin’ Rollercoaster, Flight of Passage, Expedition Everest, Test Track, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, give guests some of the coolest and more immersive experiences they have ever had. Disney World is no county fair, these rides will literally transcend you from the real-world to a place of magic.
This brings me to my last point: magic. Disneyland is nicknamed the “happiest place on earth,” while Disney World coined the title, “most magical place on earth.” Like the rides, the hotels and theme parks are also impeccably themed so you feel like you have left our world and entered a new one. You can truly leave your real life behind and step into a place full of magic and joy. Isn’t that what you really want from a vacation, to take a break from not only work and school, but also the whole world in general?
Lastly, Disney World’s cast members truly make the experience by providing guests with the utmost service, going above and beyond to make everyone’s stay as relaxing and fun as possible.
I hope this article convinced you to book your next vacation to Disney, but if not that’s okay. But don’t let the negative perception around “Disney adults” keep you from enjoying one of the best places ever created!
