Are there “easy” college majors?

I think it’s hard to say that there is an “easier” college major than other college majors. Obviously, some are harder than others, but I can’t really say that there is one that is specifically easy.
I hear all the time that there are easy majors and there are hard majors, but I just believe that there are things that come to others easy. Being a history and education major myself, some may say that my major is easy. But in my eyes, it is something that is fun because I am interested in it, but the work and reading that goes into it is actually very difficult.

Many people may argue that there are certain majors that are less challenging than others, more so due to the difficulty of work, exams, and course content. But in hindsight, I believe that college is hard no matter what major you are or how hard the level of the class is.

College students endure a lot of stress. For example, change and adjustment. The jump from high school to college is a stressful process, for many reasons. There is a change in workload, friendship, balancing priorities, and just learning the ropes of being at a new school. This can make the easiest class much harder, especially if you are going through a hard time. It adds to the stress levels, and if you have an “easy” major according to your friends, it could be really hard to you.

Along with this, I believe that there are no “easier” majors because people are talented in different subjects, which can make one major easier for someone than the other. For example, I am interested in learning about history, and it makes the major “easier” for me, but it is not simply easy per-say. There is a lot of work that goes into being a history major, just as much as it does being a nursing major, English major, or math major. Where I have to do a lot of reading and writing of papers, a nursing major may have to do a lot more memorizing. However, this doesn’t mean that one is harder than the other.

I think that people tend to put stereotypes on majors that they are too hard or too easy and that we should only study what we know is easy for us. I believe that there is no reason for you to not study what you want to. If you are good at the subject, why not take it into a career? If you are feeling more ambitious and want to study something for your dream job, you should be able to. There is no reason to not study what you want, regardless of whether society considers it easy or hard.
