West Long Branch, NJ- The volunteers at the Monmouth Area Vegetarian Society (MAVS) are hosting a free vegan potluck and presentation led by Theresa Lam, who has worked as a formulations chemist and a certified middle school science teacher. The event will take place at Monmouth University’s Magill Commons Club Dining Room on Sunday, March 30 at 1 pm. The event is free and open to the public.

Debate Hawks Win Nine Awards at Western Championship in California
The University’s Debate Team won nine team and individual awards at the Western National Debate Championship at Sacramento State University in California on the weekend of March 7 – 9. Dylan Maynard took a first place speaking award and Saliha Younas received the 2nd place speaking award in their division of approximately 40 debaters. Fourteen Monmouth students competed at the tournament. The teams of Jessica Roberts and Ryan Kelly and Dylan Maynard and Saliha Younas also made it to the semi-final round after going 5-1 at the tournament before eventually falling to Weber State and Pepperdine University respectively in the semi-final round. Monmouth had two of the final four teams in the semi-final playoff round.
Survey Says … “Greek Feud” is a university hit
Alpha Kappa Psi (AKPsi) hosted their first philanthropic event of the semester, “Greek Feud,” in Pollak Theater on Wednesday March 5 from 10 pm – 12 am, raising $1,500 for Habitat for Humanity.

All Lifestyles Included (ALI) held their fifth annual Drag show, “Apocalipstick,” in Anacon Hall of the Rebecca Stafford Student Center (RSSC) to raise over $1,000 for The Trevor Project on Friday, March 7.

Delta Tau Delta is officially the newest fraternity recognized by the University. Currently, there are 35 new members who have been named “founding fathers” of the fraternity.

The Student Activities Board (SAB) hosted its annual Zombie Attack Apocalypse in Anacon Hall on Saturday, March 1 from 7 – 10 pm. The event was free and open to all zombie-lovers.
WMCX Rocks on for Twelve Hours Straight
The University radio station, 88.9 FM WMCX, hosted their 5th annual, “12 Hour Music Fest,” featuring 12 bands performing live and students who currently radio hosts conducting interviews with the bands, from 9 am – 9 pm on Friday, Feb. 28.
