The word “mistake” has a highly negative connotation, but why? I look back on my life and I have made a boatload of mistakes and I plan to make more in the near future. Making bad decisions builds character, make for great memories and admit it, it’s pretty fun.
The Office of International Students in conjunction with the International Club hosted their Annual International Festival, which featured various student performances to celebrate and promote different cultures of the University in Anacon Hall on Saturday, April 12 from 6:30 – 11:00 pm.
At the heart of our hawk is a group of approximately 45 students who are responsible for uplifting the spirits of students and athletes. Deemed “The Big Sound of the Jersey Shore” by former President Paul Gaffney, this “Spirit Team” ensemble plays your favorite tunes like LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem” and DJ Khaled’s “All I Do is Win” at basketball and football games in an effort to get the crowd going and help to lead the teams to victory.
The National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) hosted its annual “Glow in the Dark” dance party in the Rebecca Stafford Student Center (RSCC) on Saturday, March 8 from 9 pm – 1 am, with music from DJ Taj of 106 & Park.
Delta Tau Delta is officially the newest fraternity recognized by the University. Currently, there are 35 new members who have been named “founding fathers” of the fraternity.
The University radio station, 88.9 FM WMCX, hosted their 5th annual, “12 Hour Music Fest,” featuring 12 bands performing live and students who currently radio hosts conducting interviews with the bands, from 9 am – 9 pm on Friday, Feb. 28.
The 5,6,7,8 Club hosted a two hour long Zumbathon event to raise money for their annual recital while promoting health and fitness during the winter months in Anacon Hall on Friday, Feb. 7 from 6 – 8 pm.
Approximately 200 students came to see if sorority sisters were smarter than fraternity brothers at Alpha Sigma Tau’s (AST) event, “Are you Smarter than a Fraternity Man?” Over $1,300 was raised for the sorority’s philanthropy, The Ashley Lauren Cancer Foundation, on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 10 pm in Pollak Theatre.
Approximately 300 students joined the ladies of Phi Sigma Sigma for “Monmouth Idol” in Pollak Theatre and raised over $2,000 for the sorority’s philanthropy: school and college readiness. The event showcased the talents of nine student acts, which focused primarily on singing.
The University’s Shadow PR Firm and Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) Chapter teamed up with Zeta Tau Alpha (ZTA) to host the “Fall into Pink” event to raise almost $500 for Breast Cancer awareness and the Shadow PR Firm and the PRSSA Chapter from 1 – 4 pm on the patio of the Rebecca Stafford Student Center on Wednesday, Oct. 16.
